Liverpool announced the Dutch manager to lead the team on May 20, 2024, and handed him a three-year contract.

Previous teams coached

It could be seen that Arne Slot already knew his next plan after retirement from active football with the actions he took at PEC Zwolle.


After retiring in 2013, he joined the coaching staff at the Dutch football club PEC Zwolle. Initially as a youth team coach. 


He was on the move to Cambuur, becoming an assistant coach on the team. However, in 2016, he was appointed interim coach following the relegation of the club to the second division. 


A year later, it was announced that he would remain as head coach alongside Sipke Hulshoff. This marked a proper beginning for the Dutchman as he edged deeply into mainstream management.


His performance was impressive, although it wasn't electric at the time, even as Cambuur missed out on promotion back to the top flight following the defeat in the playoffs. He also guided the club to the KNVB Cup (Dutch Cup) semifinals.


AZ Alkmaar

Following his exploits at Cambuur in the Dutch second division, Arne Slot had already begun attracting interest from teams in the domestic scene.


In 2017, he joined AZ Alkmaar to become an assistant coach in the top flight. He played a key role as an assistant even as the club reached the final of the KNVB Cup in 2018 but lost to Feyenoord.


For the 2019–20 season, Slot was appointed head coach of the club, being his first role as head coach after his previous role as co-head coach at Cambuur.

Feyenoord Rotterdam

Feyenood announced in 2020 the decision to appoint Arne Slot as the new head coach of the club for two years starting from the 2021–22 season.


He took over the top job with a lot of responsibilities, including the team's participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League, eventually guiding them to reach the round of 16 and setting a record for the team's appearance for the first time in twenty years.


Feyenood lost to AS Roma narrowly in the finals as he narrowly missed out on his first European football trophy. That season, he received the Eredivisie Manager of the Year.
