Russell Martin is a Scottish professional football manager who is the current manager of the Premier League club Southampton. He is a household name in English football following stints at MK Dons and Swansea City.

Russell Martin currently earns an annual salary of £2m at Southampton. He joined the Saints in 2023 and signed a long-term contract that would keep him at the club until 2027.

 

He was in charge of the team as they were promoted back to the English Premier League. Before taking up the new role, he led Swansea to 10th place in the EFL Championship.

Personal life 

Russell Martin was born in Brighton, East Sussex, in January 1986. He joined Brighton & Hove Albion's youth academy but switched to Lewes in the Isthmian League Division One South.

 

Martin Russell's football career began in full swing after signing for Wycombe Wanderers in 2004. He went on to make several appearances with the team.

He moved to Peterborough United and was made the club's youngest captain at the time and successfully led the team to the EFL Championship.

 

After an impressive performance at Peterborough United, he joined Norwich City, which later became a permanent deal. He helped the club secure promotion to the Premier League.


Martin was sent on a short loan deal but returned and later left Norwich City by mutual consent.
