Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has ruled out options for a possible move for former youngster Ferran Jutglà who’s been outstanding in the Belgian league with Club Brugge.
The Spanish forward has been impressive for the Belgian club, scoring eight goals in all competitions, including the Champions League, where many Spanish football fans hailed his performance against Atletico Madrid.
Although Xavi Hernandez is not unaware of the success, the former Barcelona youngster is currently in Belgium. There would be no need for the club to consider a transfer at the moment due to the presence of Robert Lewandowski, who’s scored nine goals in the league.
According to Xavi Hernandez in an interview cited by Mundo Deportivo, there would be no place for Ferran Jutglà at the club.
“I’m very happy for Ferran. We know him a lot, the analysts who had him at Sant Andreu youth team knew him a lot and they spoke to me a lot about him and very well. And last year he performed, when he played he performed. But it was an opportunity for him. Here it would have been really difficult for him. We have Lewandowski in front of us, so where do we put Ferran, what do we do? It’s difficult.
Accessing Jutglà performance at Club Brugge, Xavi added, “it is easier to perform outside Barça than at Barça.”
“I’m very happy for him, because he deserves it. He’s a hard worker and he’s making a difference in a tremendous competition, the Champions League, and we’re not ruling anything out in the future, but one team is not the same as another.
Ferran Jutglà was on target as Club Brugge claimed a 2-0 win over misfiring Atletico Madrid in the Champions League to move top of Group B with nine points.
