Xavi Hernandez knows the problems with his midfield and now insisting on the signing of Martin Zubimendi

Martin Zubimendi

Xavi Hernandez has been clear about his desire in the summer and would like to get it done as quickly as possible. This comes as plans for the new season intensifies.

The Barca boss is considering a quick fix of the midfield following the departure of Sergio Busquets. Although the Blaugrana have explored other options in the market, especially Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich, the priority now lies on the Real Sociedad man.

According to Fichajes, Martín Zubimendi has a release clause worth 60 million euros, a figure considered affordable by the club’s top hierarchy.

The 24-year-old has a contract with Real Sociedad, which runs until the summer of 2027.

What could be an obstacle for Barcelona is Real Sociedad’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League, as the Spaniard could opt to remain at the club knowing fully well he would be playing European football next season.

Further reports cast more doubts on Barcelona signing the midfielder as he is said to be uninterested in leaving the club from San Sebastian.

That said, Barcelona is optimistic they could land their dream signing in the summer, especially as they want to fulfil the desires of their manager.
