After several attempts to land Chelsea pacey winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, Bayern Munich opted for Juventus star Douglas Costa on transfer deadline day.
For the third time, the German club failed in their bid to sign the 19-year old from the English club.
Last week Saturday, head coach of Bayern, Hansi Flick admitted the club’s interested in Odoi. He also revealed reasons why the Bavarian club is on the lookout for him.
“In his position, he is one of the greatest talents, so it is legitimate that we at Bayern Munich deal with him,” in our earlier report.
The disagreement between the two clubs was clear. Bayern Munich wanted an initial loan offer for Callum Hudson-Odoi, with an option to make it permanent with 70 million pounds.
Chelsea on other hand requested for an outright payment valued in the region of 77 million pounds which was followed with penalties should Bayern Munich fail to adhere to agreements that would have made if the transfer had stood.
The conditions set by Chelsea
Accordingly, Chelsea wanted an outright sale of Odoi for 77 million pounds. And Bayern Munich will have to play the 19-year old regularly. And if the German club fails to adhere by the agreement, they would impose penalties on them. A move which seemed too demanding, as a result, Bayern had to wave them off.
Instead of standing with the Londoners on this, the Hollywood boys opted for Juventus star Douglas Costa as a quick alternative (h/t Fussball Transfers).
The Brazilian moves to Bavaria on loan until the end of the season.
