The FA Community Shield remains one of the most celebrated football games globally. Serving as the curtain raiser, the one-off game also comes with its bragging rights amongst English clubs since it was established in 1908.

But that bragging rights only belong to the elites, the First Division (and Premier League) clubs who have had a foothold in the English top flight for decades.

Manchester United became the first team in 1908 to lift the Community Shield. Since then, the Red Devils have dominated the trophy.

Today Manchester United is the club that has won the most Community Shield at 21 trophies, followed by Liverpool FC in second place with fifteen trophies. 

Although the traditional First Division and Premier League club has more trophies, over twenty-five different clubs have emerged victorious since Man United won the first edition. 

In 2021, Kelechi Iheanacho’s 89-minute spot kick gave Leicester City their second Community Shield trophy at the expense of Manchester City at the Wembley stadium.
