Israeli football heavyweights Maccabi Haifa take a trip to Slovan Bratislava in the first leg tie of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League third-round qualifying series.

Haifa had a memorable outing last season when they were grouped with Paris Saint-Germain, SL Benfica, and Juventus, even though they finished bottom of the group.

Host Slovan Bratislava remains one of the household names in European football from the Eastern bloc. The Slovakian giants edged past Zrinjski in the second-round qualifying series.

Last season they were eliminated from the UCL in the second round by Ferencváros.

Ahead of Wednesday’s fixture, there’s a concern for the team as they have yet to win three games and have conceded four goals.
