Benfica and FC Porto will square up at Estádio Municipal de Aveiro in the Portuguese Super Cup, the curtain raiser ahead of this weekend’s return of football across the country.

Benfica enters the new season as defending champions of the domestic league, while FC Porto won the Portuguese Cup last season.

The meeting between the two sides, often referred to as O Clássico, is one of the greatest football rivalries in European football, both with a considerable number of successes at the biggest stage.

FC Porto have won the Portuguese Super Cup trophy twenty-three times, while Benfica has only eight.
