Metz are looking to return from last weekend’s humiliating (5-1) defeat at Rennes in the French Ligue 1 opening day.

The Maroons will host Olympique Marseille at the Stade Saint-Symphorien in their home game of the new season.

Metz, alongside Le Havre, are the two newly promoted French Ligue 1 teams following the rule change to accommodate 18 clubs in the country’s top flight.

Olympique Marseille, on the other hand, kickstarted the season with a 2-1 win over Reims. The Olympians were eliminated from the UCL third round on Tuesday evening via penalties by Greek side Panathinaikos.

Marseille, however, turns attention to the domestic league, where they’ll be looking to maintain their perfect start to the season when they face Metz on Friday evening.
