Newcastle United hosts Everton on Wednesday night at St. James’ Park, the two Premier League teams are looking to get back to winning ways.
The goals dried up when Newcastle faced Manchester United last weekend after stunning wins of 4-1 and 5-1 against Fulham and Brentford, respectively. However, they at least left Old Trafford with a point.
Between the end of August and the beginning of October, Frank Lampard’s Everton team went seven games without losing in the league.
However, they have lost consecutive games against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Last Saturday, a 2-0 setback away at Spurs followed a 2-1 defeat over the Red Devils at Goodison Park.
Currently, the Toffees are in 14th place, eight positions and five points behind the sixth-placed Magpies in the standings.

Team News
Newcastle’s club-record transfer Alexander Isak and star winger Allan Saint-Maximin have both suffered setbacks in their recovery from thigh and hamstring injuries, respectively, with the former ruled out until after the World Cup.
Injuries have kept Matt Ritchie (calf), Karl Darlow (ankle), and Emil Krafth (knee) out of action. Still, Jonjo Shelvey made his season-long comeback to the matchday squad against Manchester United and is eligible to play again on Wednesday.
Everton’s injury situation is unaffected; Yerry Mina (calf), Ben Godfrey (fractured fibula), Nathan Patterson (ankle), and Andros Townsend (ACL) are all still out.
Anthony Gordon was suspended for the loss at Spurs, but he will be available for selection on Wednesday and will likely start in place of Dwight McNeil.

Prediction
Newcastle United 3-1 Everton
Given their recent results, standing in the standings, and home record, Newcastle will enter Wednesday’s match as heavy favourites. Everton’s dismal away record further favours the home team.
The Toffees have scored in 20 of their last 21 meetings with Newcastle, but they may find it difficult to get past a strong Magpies defence this time. However, Howe’s team certainly has enough talent to earn a victory.
