West Ham eyeing Anthony Martial
West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United striker Anthony Martial this summer as David Moyes wants to strengthen his attacking options.
A report from talkSPORT claims that West Ham United and Manchester United have spoken about Anthony Martial: the Red Devils spent €60 million on the French international in 2015.
When Martial moved from AS Monaco to Manchester United in a €60 million transfer, it was expected that he would one day become a world-class forward.
However, his growth hasn’t gone on as expected. He has been unable to reach his full potential due to ongoing injury issues, and the Frenchman is now looking for a fresh start.
Edson Alvarez from Ajax is the only player the Hammers have brought in this summer. The London club has already done business with United this summer, agreeing on a £30 million move for central defender Harry Maguire and having their bid for Scott McTominay rejected.
Even though Martial has had trouble staying with Manchester United, his talent is still there, and West Ham would do well to sign the Frenchman.
Martial, who has scored 88 goals in 298 appearances for Old Trafford, is a player of immense quality when he is at his best.
The only obstacle to joining West Ham might be his salary, as the former AS Monaco player reportedly earns £250,000 per week, making him West Ham’s highest earner. He has also been linked with a move to Inter Milan.
Rasmus Hojlund was just signed by Manchester United from Atalanta, and his presence has pushed Martial lower down the pecking order at Old Trafford. Hence, an exit seems to be the best outcome for all the parties involved.
Would Anthony Martial be a good signing for West Ham United?
