Olarenwaju Kayode expressed his concerns on Sivasspor’s defense at Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Superuper Lig which entered the 17th matchday last weekend.
The Nigerian forward came on as a substitute for Ivorian attacker Max Gradel, who increased Sivasspor’s early lead in the first half to two goals before the eventual comeback of the home side.
Speaking after the game, Kayode called for improvement in the defence.
“We have entered many positions, but apart from that, we need to improve in team defence. We have to pay attention to this. We will try this. We should win in the next match”, said the Nigerian forward as published by Ajansspor.
After Yesilyurt had given the away side an early lead in the 18th minute at the Yeni Malatya Stadyumu, a pass resulting from a corner kick from the right-wing was crossed into the 18-yard box which found the head of Max Gradel, as the Ivorian wasted no time to put Sivasspor on the driving seat.
The stats behind Kayode Olarenwaju this season, and how he’s fared
The Nigerian attacker is currently in Turkey on loan from Ukrainian Liga side Shakhtar Donetsk, where he could not guarantee himself regular first-team action at the club.
So far in turkey, he’s had 11 league appearances with no goal to report. But his contributions to the team’s growth has been the greatest achievements with the club.
The high expectations from the club may not be a problem to him as he’s been able to perform at the highest level.
In 2013, Kayode moved from Ivory Coast first division club ASEC Mimosas to Switzerland Super League side Luzern on loan.
After making a permanent switch to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, he has only managed three goals in 16 appearances.
The 27-year old has spent the past two seasons on loan at Gaziantep FK and now with Sivasspor.
