Nigerian attacker Victor Osimhen has been selected by Napoli as their official cover for the club’s upcoming calendar for the year 2021 even as the Naples based club prepares for the start of another football year in 2021. (Calcio Napoli 24)

The club prepares for another busy football season with lost of games expected to take place within the space of few days, which includes games in the UEFA Europa League.

The Partenopei finished 2020 fifth on the Italian Serie A table with a game on hand to be played against league defending Champions Juventus, after the initial ruling which ordered Napoli to forfeit a game they could not honour as a result of effects of the coronavirus. The order however was reversed to allow the game to be played.

The former Lille number made the move to the Italian Serie A during the winter transfer window for a Nigerian transfer record fee.

Although, he’s had a better start to life in Italy, but was pegged back as a result of a shoulder injury he sustained during Nigeria’s AFCON Qualifiers against Sierra Leone in Nigeria.

For Napoli, there’s are still lots of things to play when the new year begins. First, they are going to be in action in the league against Cagliari.

Napoli suffered a lot in the attack since Osimhen’s absence. But he is expected to return before the tenth of January, probably in the game against Udinese.

Coach of the side Gennaro Gattuso knows he needs the best when the new year begins. At the moment, they are fifth on the log despite showing promising display during the pre-season.


Victor Osimhen on his part was scoring for fun and was tipped to lead the team.

As things stand currently, his absence has cost the team a whole lot. Although, at some point before the injury, he couldn’t score on his own as he was judged to be crediting the goal-scoring chances to his teammates.


With his skills and abilities, he is expected to improve on his work rate and attitude towards putting the ball at the back of the net on his own.
