Unai Emery opens new opportunity for Samuel Chukweze at Villarreal

It became clear to the Nigerian that his role at Villarreal could be limited after Villarreal announced the signing of Real Madrid Japanese youngster takefusa Kubo on loan.

At the start, this new development played out as the former Arsenal coach started playing the Japanese instead of Chukweze, who was an integral member of Villarreal’s first team last season.

Kubo’s signing may not be unrelated with his form in the La Liga 2 after he helped inch closer to promotion.

However, as the season progressed further, the chances of Kubo became limited as he became poor in front of goal. His goal scoring as well creating abilities became limited, which his parent club Real Madrid thought it was as a result of lesser role in the first team.

Kubo 19, managed 13 appearances with three goals which appear not to be enough as a player regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the Spanish La Liga within the last two seasons.

Speaking about Kubo’s future, Unai Emery made it clear there’s no place for the Japanese at the club

“We are not here to give a player ten games in a row if he doesn’t perform,” said Emery. “He is given a match and he must earn more. It is valid for the youth players and everyone. There is a requirement here and that is to win. “ as cited by 101 Great Goals.
