Tottenham in talks with Chelsea over a shock deal for Romelu Lukaku
According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur has entered the race to sign Romelu Lukaku, who was earlier linked with Juventus and Inter Milan.
Tottenham recently sold their captain Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for a staggering 120 million euros.
The North Londoners have few alternatives following this transfer. As a result, the club is looking for a direct successor for England’s captain, and Lukaku has been named to the shortlist.
At first, there were rumors of a transfer back to Inter Milan, but the deal has since fallen through. Juventus is also said to be interested in Lukaku.
According to some sources, the striker has contacted Tottenham, and both parties are waiting for negotiations to start.
Lukaku has previously displayed his talent in the Premier League and maybe a wise addition. He has 121 league goals with clubs including West Bromwich Albion, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Everton.
The Belgian has the skills to flourish at Tottenham, but it is still unclear whether he can recapture his best form.
While on loan at Inter Milan last season, Lukaku had a disappointing season by his usual standards. The Belgian international scored 14 goals in all competitions and helped the Italian club reach the UEFA Champions League final.
Lukaku is still only 30, and if he can discover his old form, he can truly be an asset to Ange Postecoglou.
