Carney Chukwuemeka is one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in Europe. He joined Chelsea from Aston Villa last summer for a hefty fee of £20m and made 14 appearances in the league, mainly as a substitute.
He showed glimpses of his potential with his energy, vision, and passing ability, but he will be looking to establish himself as a regular starter this season.
With Mauricio Pochettino facing a shortage of midfield options due to injuries and departures, Chukwuemeka could be the perfect solution for the Blues. He impressed in the preseason, featuring in all five games as Chelsea went unbeaten in the US tour.
2. Kobbie Mainoo – (Manchester United, 18)

Kobbie Mainoo is a rare defensive midfielder who can also dictate the game’s tempo with his technical skills and composure. He made his Premier League debut last season at 17 and caught the eye of fans and pundits alike with his mature performances.
He earned his first senior cap for England in March, becoming the youngest player since Theo Walcott in 2006.
Mainoo will miss the start of the season due to an ankle injury he picked up in pre-season, but he is expected to recover soon and challenge for a place in Erik ten Hag’s midfield. The Dutch manager is a big fan of Mainoo and has ruled out sending him out on loan, believing he can be a key player for United this season.
3. Stefan Bajcetic – (Liverpool, 18)

Stefan Bajcetic is a versatile defender who can play as a centre-back or a right-back. He joined Liverpool from Celta Vigo in January 2021 and immediately scored his first Premier League goal in December against Crystal Palace.
Bajcetic’s progress was halted by a knee injury that ruled him out for the rest of the season, but he is fit again and ready to challenge for a spot in Jurgen Klopp’s defence.
With Liverpool undergoing a major overhaul in their midfield this summer, Bajcetic could be an option to fill in as a defensive midfielder as well.
4. James Trafford – (Burnley, 20)

James Trafford is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in England. He joined Burnley from Manchester City this summer after spending two successful seasons on loan at Accrington Stanley and Bolton.
He was also part of the England U21 squad that won the European Championship this year, keeping six clean sheets in seven games.
Trafford will compete with Arijanet Muric for the number one spot at Burnley, who are back in the Premier League after winning the Championship last season.
With Vincent Kompany as their new manager, Burnley will aim to play an attractive and attacking style of football, which could suit Trafford’s strengths as a shot-stopper and a distributor.
5. Cole Palmer – (Manchester City, 21)
Guardiola on Cole Palmer: “We have lot of confidence in Cole. I know he wanted to play last season, and didn't much. The agent, himself, we have to talk”. 🔵⭐️

Cole Palmer is an attacking midfielder who can play on either wing or behind the striker. He made his Premier League debut for Manchester City last season and scored his first goal in October against Leeds United.
He also featured in the Champions League and the FA Cup, showing his versatility and flair. Palmer was one of the standout performers for City in their Community Shield win over Arsenal on Sunday, scoring a stunning goal from the right flank.
With Riyad Mahrez leaving City this summer to join PSG, Palmer could have more opportunities to showcase his talent under Pep Guardiola this season.
