Canadian soccer players are amongst the most respected in soccer today.
From Owen Havgreevs, who was major player, to Jonathan Osorio, the leading light of Canadian soccer players in Major League Soccer, it’s been more of an upward rise for Canadians.
Although the country is yet to have many success stories to tell when it comes to soccer at the international level, there’s more to expect in present generation players scattered all over the world.

The bottom line is Canada have some of the best soccer players in North America that could create competition for other top nations like Mexico and the United States.
So who are the best Canadian Soccer players to watch in the 2021/2022 soccer season?

1. Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies is arguably the best Canadian soccer player globally regardless of his position on the field of play.
Davies has been employed sometimes as a winger, left-back, or even as a forward in some cases and the good thing about this is his ability to deliver at all times.
Davies has played outstanding at left-back with Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. One of the greatest moments of Davies career was during Bayern Munich humiliation of Barcelona in the 2019/2020 Champions League season.
Since then, he’s been very consistent and is yet to be sidelined except for obvious reasons like squad rotation.
Davies formed a core part of the German Men’s National Team coach Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich.
He’d also continued with his excellent form and cemented his position in Julian Nagglesman’s new team.
He joined Bayern Munich in 2018, and since then, he has won major European and world titles like the UEFA Champions League in 2019–20, FIFA Club World Cup in 2020, up to four Bundesliga titles and one UEFA Super Cup.
He’s currently the eye of Canadian soccer on the European continent European national team level, and Davies has been in fine form lately, helping Canada in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
2. Jonathan David

Lille’s new magician, Jonathan David, is currently the talk of the town on the European football transfer market. Helping Lille to a surprise French Ligue 1 title triumph in 2020/2021, he’s currently in the spotlight.
The stats do speak well of him. His consistency has been the only key to blistering form for Lille in the French football top division.
David, who began his career as a youth for Ottawa Gloucester SC, moved to Belgium First Division A big boys KAA Gent in 2018. He was extremely useful for the Belgian side with over 30 goals in 60 league appearances for the club.
This was more than enough for Lille to scout for his availability. Lille’s decision to bring the Canadian to the French Ligue 1 paid off interestingly.
The Les Dogues won the title thanks to maximum contributions from Jonathan David, who scored 13 goals in 37 league appearances for the club.

3. Cyle Larin
Who is Cyle Larin? Well, you are about to know more. Cyle Larin is one of the famously celebrated soccer players by fans of Turkish Super Lig side Beşiktaş.
He joined Beşiktaş in 2018 and was more than necessary for the club during 2020/2021, scoring 19 goals in 38 matches to help the club lift their 21st Turkish Super Lig title.

He began his professional soccer career with Orlando City in 2015, scoring over 17 goals in his first season with the club.

Cyle Larin scored 12 goals in 28 matches in his third season before switching to Beşiktaş. Although he started slow, he returned to the first team following a year with Belgian club Zulte Waregem.

4. Jonathan Osorio

Rightly said, Jonathan Osorio is one of the biggest stars of modern Canadian soccer. The Toronto born soccer player has spent the entirety of his career playing for Toronto FC.
In 2017, Jonathan Osorio and Sebastian Giovinco combined to help Toronto FC lift its first MLS Cup title.
While Giovinco finished the season as Toronto FC top scorer with 17 goals, Osorio scored a single goal but was very useful throughout the campaign.
Actively competing at the highest level of soccer, Jonathan Osorio individually is one of the most decorated.
5. Atiba Hutchinson

Atiba Hutchinson moved from surprised Danish Super winner and club legend of Copenhagen to Beşiktaş club captain and legend.
It is a continuous success for the Canadian soccer player who’s had an impressive career in Europe.
He won the heart of the fans at FC Copenhagen, where he won four league titles, one Danish Cup and Royal League, an annual cup competition for Scandinavian soccer teams, which was abolished in 2007.
Hutchinson won the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield in 2012 with PSV.
He moved to Beşiktaş in 2013 and have since won numerous trophies with the club, including three Turkish Super Lig titles and one Turkish Cup.
Atiba Hutchinson and Cyle Larin are the two Canadian soccer players currently playing at the highest level of Turkish soccer.
