London football clubs – ranking the best soccer teams

Football in the city of London is the most popular sport. It is the most popular in terms of individual participation and the number of matchday attendance it receives, most especially during the football season in the country. Here are the football clubs in London

 

1. Arsenal

 

Arsenal club competes in English Premier League and plays its home games at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are also recording FA Cup winners with 14 titles. Most of these titles were achieved in the modern era of English football.

 

Today, Arsenal is a household name not just in England but known worldwide as one of the best clubs with a huge fan base. The club holds the record as the Invincibles of England and the first club in the modern era and second in the overall Invincible kept by any English club.

 

2. Chelsea

 

Chelsea is regarded as one of the most successful London-based teams in Europe. The club competes in the English Premier League.

 

Today, Chelsea is among the most successful teams in England, with over six EPL titles and other recognized major trophies. The most recent success was in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final, where they defeated Manchester City in a final held in Portugal.

 

The Blues boast five Premier League titles, two UEFA Champions League titles, and two UEFA Europa League titles in the modern era of European football.

 

Chelsea started fine during its early years of establishment, but along the line came a Sharp decline which was quickly revived, returning the club to a major level. The club  is also the first club from England to win all major UEFA Club Competitions

 

3. Tottenham Hotspur

 

Tottenham Hotspur is a professional football club based in North London. The club competes in English Premier League as one of the top sides in the division.

 

Regarding placing the clubs from London City, Tottenham Hotspur comes in third as the most successful team from the city.

 

Tottenham holds a record as the only club to achieve a domestic double by winning the Premier League and the FA Cup in the 20th century. The club also has a history as the first club in England to win the UEFA European Cup Winners’ Cup.

 

The third record the club holds is the only football club from England to win the two major European club Trophies in the 20th century have won the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Cup.

 

In the history of Tottenham Hotspur, the club has won 2 Premier League, 8 FA Cups, 4 EFL League Cups, 7 FA Community Shields, 2 EFL Championships, 1 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, and 2 UEFA Cups.

 

Spurs enjoyed a remarkable achievement from the 1950s to the 2000s. Spurs’ last major trophy was the EFL League Cup triumph in 2008.

 

In 2020, Tottenham Hotspur also lost in the League Cup finals to Manchester City even as the Manchester-based club completed its double of the season after winning the Premier League title initially.

 

4. West Ham United

 

West Ham United is an English professional football club based in Stratford. Popularly known as the Hammers, West Ham United is known for its ability to cause upset whenever they come up against bigger opponents in the league and domestic cup Competitions.

 

Although not as big as the rest of the teams from London, West Ham United has also won many domestic trophies.

 

West Ham United, since its formation, has won 3 FA Cups, 2 EFL Championships, 1 FA Charity Shield, 1 European Cup Winners Cup, 1 UEFA Intertoto Cup, and other minor regional and International trophies.

Although not as big as other London-based clubs, West Ham has also made significant progress.

 

5. Crystal Palace.

 

Palace is also one of the average London-based clubs in the Premier League, with most of the club’s records from the old era of English football.

The Eagles have won 2 EFL Championships and 1 EFL Championship League One.

 

6. Brentford

 

Brentford’s most recent success was winning the EFL Championship promotion playoffs final to return to the Premier League.

 

The club has spent most seasons in the lower divisions. Brentford has won 1 EFL Championship, 2 EFL League One, and 3 EFL League Two.

 

7. Fulham

Fulham is regarded as one of the oldest football clubs in London City.

Founded in 1879, Fulham was a major force in the English top division during the 1960s and the 200s.
