Three European clubs Marcelo Gallardo could join in 2023
Argentine football coach Marcelo Gallardo announced his departure from River Plate after eight successful years with the club. The 46-year-old admitted it was a tough decision to leave the club and gave his reason.
However, his departure from the club means a window of opportunity for him elsewhere, especially in Europe, where his wealth of experience and success in South America has been watched by the top clubs, according to Fichajes.
Last year, he was in the top European newspapers regarding his future with big clubs in Spain, England and France, mentioned as his possible destination. The news of his departure is expected to trigger some of these teams to jostle for his signature.
The Three European teams Marcelo Gallardo could join in 2023 following the River Plate exit
Paris Saint-Germain
Although Christophe Galtier has been able to turn this around at the Parc des Princes, the feeling of relaxation by the club’s top hierarchy regarding the success and tactical strength of the team appears to be missing.
Christophe Galtier, against all odds, won the French Ligue 1 with Lille at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain, who came second under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, the situation at PSG is complicated with many issues, including the uncertainty of Kylian Mbappé staying at the club beyond 2023. And any event of his departure could see Christophe Galtier and Football Advisor Luís Campos depart the club.
Atlético Madrid
Diego Simeone is one of the longstanding coaches in European football. The Argentine manager has been in charge of Atlético Madrid since 2011, winning two La Liga, two Europa League and was a Champions League runner-up twice.
Ultimately, there could be an end to the relationship between Diego Simeone and Atlético Madrid’s top hierarchy. This season, the club have performed woefully in the Champions League and the domestic scene.
Although he fits into the system of Atlético Madrid, he could be replaced by the club, and Marcelo Gallardo could be appointed head coach.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s experiment with Steven Gerrard appears not to be working as expected, unlike his exploits in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers. Gerrard has struggled to meet the club’s standards despite making significant changes in the team.
There’s no secret Aston Villa are interested in Marcelo Gallardo and could move for his services after the World Cup in Qatar.
