The South American U20 Youth Championship 2023 edition begins in Colombia today, January 19th, and we’ve brought to you, the list of some of the best players to watch when the tournament starts according to Fichajes.

 

The South American U20 tournament has been the talent hub for top South American and European football clubs over the years and this year’s edition is expected to be intense. Lately, Premier League clubs like Chelsea have turned their attention to South American talents.

 

The January transfer window have witnessed a talent hunt on the continent as top clubs race to get the best.

 

Real Madrid also did the same with Endrick and all others the club has monitored in the past through this tournament.

 

The top 10 best players to watch at South American (Sub U20) Youth Championship 2023

 

1. Andrey Santos

 

At this time of writing, Andrey Santos is no longer new around the world following his transfer to Premier League side Chelsea this January. The Brazilian midfielder is currently at CR Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian league.

 

2. Facundo González

This young lad plays for Valencia Castilla and the Uruguayan Youth team as a central defender. He’s been one of the brightest players on the Spanish club’s development team.

 

3. Kluiverth Aguilar

He laces his boots for Belgian club Lommel SK on loan from Manchester City. He will represent Peru as a right back.

 

4. Sávio

 

Sávio is a Brazilian right winger who plays for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven,  on loan from French club Troyes.

 

5. Facundo Buonanotte

 

Facundo Buonanotte is one of the fastest-rising midfielders from Argentina. He joined Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion in the winter transfer window. 

 

6. Álvaro Rodríguez

 

The Uruguayan centre forward plays for Real Madrid Castilla and has been tipped to be promoted to the first team. Spanish media reports Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti wants him in the first team.

 

7. Juan David Fuentes

 

He is perhaps one of the best on the Colombian roster for the tournament.  

Fuentes is a winger for the FC Barcelona youth team.

 

8. Patrickson Delgado

Delgado is an Ecuadorian midfielder who plays for the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam in the youth team and has been one of the brightest so far.

 

9. Jhon Jader Durán

Durán is the second Colombian youngster to appear on the list. He plays for Aston Villa.

 

10. Nico Paz

 

Nico Paz is a talented Argentine attacking midfielder who plays for Real Madrid Castilla and was one of the best players in the UEFA Youth League last season.
