The three River Plate transfer targets in the summer
Since the arrival of Martín Demichelis, River Plate has been planning to revamp their squad so they could compete at the highest level.
In the last couple of seasons, River Plate has witnessed a significant number of players leaving the club for European football, most recently the transfer of Enzo Fernández to Chelsea. The sale of the attacking midfielder to the Premier League club earned River a whopping 50 million euros following the agreement with Benfica to include 25 percent share of a future sale of the player.
And now River Plate intends to spend this money gotten from the sale of Enzo Fernández to Benfica and now to Chelsea on new players in the summer transfer window.
Head coach of the River Plate Martin Martín Demichelis and the club’s sporting director Enzo Francescoli have agreed to make high-level signings as they intend to win the Argentine Primera Division and the Copa Copa Libertadores.
With the 2023 summer transfer window starting in July, the club wants to begin now by identifying key players that could add immense value to the team.
According to Argentine newspaper Ole via Fichajes, River Plate has identified Nicolas Otamendi, Ramiro Funes Mori, and Manuel Lanzini. Other top names are on the table, but the club will only make signings that would bring significant change to the team in the long term.
