The Real Madrid players that are out of contract in 2023

Published

on

Real Madrid has increasingly made it mandatory to fill up the gaps in the team amid the departure of some of its best players for obvious reasons.

However, some names could still be leaving the club due to options left on the table by the club. One player who faces a pending exit from the club is Marco Asensio, with reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Luka Modrić has been a longstanding player at the club and would jump at the opportunity of extending his contract beyond the current agreement.

That being said, Florentino Pérez and his scouts are actively scouting the market for new players who could add more value to the team, which paves the way for new departures.

Who are the Real Madrid players whose contract expires in 2023

Seven first-team players’ contracts will expire at Real Madrid in 2023, including Karim Benzema, Dani Ceballos, and Toni Kroos.

1. Nacho – (aged 32)

José Ignacio Fernández Iglesias, known as Nacho, has spent the entity of his contact with Real Madrid, winning five Champions League and three La Liga titles. But now, he could seek a new adventure as there’s no indication of a contract extension.

2. Dani Ceballos – (aged 26)

Ceballos has had mixed fortunes with the Royal whites, from having stints on loan to fighting for his place in the first team. However, Ancelotti is reportedly counting on him and could aid in the extension of his contract.

3. Marco Asensio (aged 26)

Lack of game time remains the main issue between the former Mallorca star and the Los Blancos gaffer. However, news of a possible move to Barcelona has surfaced amid uncertainty about his future at the club.

4. Mariano (aged 29)

Mariano could be heading for the exit door next summer as his contract with the Los Blancos will end in 2023.

5. Toni Kroos (aged 32)

Toni Kroos is one of the longstanding players at Real Madrid and has continued to power the club’s midfield arsenal until now. The German will see his contract end in 2023 with no sight of an extension made public.

6. Luka Modrić – (aged 37)

The ageless midfield maestro and FIFA Men’s World Player of the Year, Luka Modrić, could leave the club even though there’s an option on the table that lets him decide his future. Modrić could be handed one more year but is free to choose his next destination.

7. Karim Benzema – (aged 34)

Benzema was arguably Real Madrid’s best player last season and remained the main player in the centre-forward position. The Frenchman’s departure from the club looks unrealistic due to his current form.

However, there has been no official contract extension with the club.
