The LFP unveils the general calendar for the 2020-2021 season

The 2019-20 season (almost) finished – there are still the two finals of the two National Cups – the LFP is already looking into the next 2020-2021 fiscal year. This Friday afternoon, the French body unveiled the general calendar for the next season and what awaits the French clubs. And one thing is certain, the timing will be tight! The League will meet on the weekend of August 22 and 23 for the first day of the championship. Contrary to usual, the whole outward phase will not be played between August and December. Indeed, the outward phase will end on the weekend of January 9, that is, after the winter break which will take place after the 17th day.

The 38th and last day will take place on May 23, 2021 and will of course be in multiplex. Then come the play-offs with the Ligue 2 club which will take place on 27 and May 2021. Everything will be tighter than usual since 5 days of championship will take place during the week. The League does not really have a choice since it must complete all of its competitions before the end of May, Euro 2020 (in 2021) requires. The Euro begins on June 11 as a reminder. Ligue 2, it will start the same weekend as L1, on August 22-23, 2020 and will end on May 15, 2021. For a full overview of what awaits you, it’s here.
