Telegraph: reduced Rúben Amorim release clause increase Aston Villa next manager odds
Aston Villa received a significant boost in Rúben Amorim’s pursuit as the Telegraph understood the release clause of the Portuguese manager is far lesser than widely claimed by other top media outlets.
In our earlier report, we revealed that Rúben Amorim’s release clause was tagged around €30m. However, Telegraph says it has reduced to €10 million, which significantly increased the odds of Aston Villa appointing him as their next manager.
Steven Gerrard was relieved of his duties following a series of poor results since the start of the season.
Aston Villa Rúben Amorim odds – what are Villa’s chances
What remains an obstacle is the 37-year-old’s intentions to stay in Portugal. He had initially signed a contract extension with the club, which would see him at the club until June 2024.
The Telegraph further reveals Aston Villa remain undeterred despite the release clause on his contract with Sporting CP. The club’s top hierarchy wishes to see him at Villa Park and are prepared to do whatever it takes to secure his services.

Before the emergence of Amorim, former River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo was on the list of managers who could take over the job at Villa Park in January.
Sporting has been outstanding this season in the Champions League, winning their first two games, which include against Tottenham Hotspur. In midweek, the contingent would travel to London to face Spurs.
