As a result, the club took the decision to bring the Liverpool youngster as a replacement for Sebastian Andersson who is currently in the books of FC Koln.
The 23-year old Nigerian hasn’t been able to break into the Liverpool setup in England under Jurgen Klopp. Last season, he was with Mainz 05, scoring a goal in twelve appearances.
Speaking shortly after the signing of the Nigerian, Union Berlin manager Oliver Ruhnert says he is happy to land the 23-year old.
“Taiwo is a highly talented player who already knows the Bundesliga. He has already been active in several countries and will certainly find his way around our team quickly. With his physical robustness, his team spirit and his move to the goal, he should make our attacking game more variable and liven up the offensive game. ” said the manager as cited by Fussball Transfers.
Awoniyi is expected to add more experience to Union Berlin since he’d played in the German first division in the past with Mainz 05.
