Portuguese league defending champions SL Benfica will tackle Southampton as pre-season action continues across the European continent. The match will take place at St George’s Park National Football Centre.

The Eagles edged past FC Porto to claim their 38th Portuguese league crown last season and were quarter-finalists in the UEFA Champions League.

Southampton suffered relegation last season from the English Premier League and will compete in the EFL Championship next season.

The Saints taking on Benfica is arguably one of the biggest fixtures on Wednesday, alongside the Manchester United game against Leeds United.
