Tanzanian giants Simba SC has been handed a tough draw ahead of the quarter-finals of the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League.
The draw which was made in CAF headquarters today, the Tanzanians will have a tough fight against the South Africans in a winner takes it situation.
However, this may not be a big problem for Simba SC, looking at the away record and the club’s ability to concede fewer goals during the group stages despite facing tougher oppositions including Al Ahly Egypt and AS Vita Club.
The first leg of the quarter-finals between Simba SC and Kaizer Chiefs will be played in South Africa between May 14th and 15th while the second leg will take centre stage at the Dar es Salaam stadium from May 21st to 22nd.
The journey to the quarter-finals
Eliminating JS Saoura and AS Vita Club to claim the top spot over Al Ahly sends a message across the African continent about what the club is capable of.
At least, the wins for the club will further boost Tanzania’s chances of fielding two teams in CAF club competitions in the few years with consistency.
The match Preview – Chances of Simba SC in the quarter-finals
The South African side is another tough opponent to face.
The high level of competition in the Premier Soccer League saw the Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns advance to the quarter-finals.
For the Tanzanian club, this is a huge warning sign and Kaizer Chiefs should not be underrated.
Rather the manager of the side needs to approach both legs just as how the game against Al Ahly Egypt and AS Vita Club was done.
The expectations are high this season even as Simba SC hopes to advance to the semi-finals.
