Saturday night’s LaLiga matchup between an average Sevilla and Diego Simeone’s volatile Atletico Madrid is arguably the top clash of the weekend.

Sevilla now sits in 15th place in La Liga and has fallen short of expectations thus far this year. The Andalusian team will need to step it up in this match after a 1-1 draw with Villarreal earlier this month.

On the other side, Atletico Madrid has also struggled this season and is now in the seventh position in the league standings. Los Colchoneros will need to win this weekend after losing to Real Madrid by a 2-1 in their previous match.

What is the kickoff time for Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid

The match will kick off at 5:30 PM BST Saturday, October 1 2022.

Team News

Sevilla will continue to play without Marcao in defence, who has yet to play for his new team. Erik Lamela should rejoin the squad after missing the Villarreal draw, but Jesus Corona is out until the new year with ligament problems.

In place of the out-of-sorts Youssef En-Nesyri, new striker Kasper Dolberg might be in line for his first Sevilla start after scoring for Denmark against France during the international break. Adnan Januzaj will also be pushing for a start.

Although the visitors have dealt with their fair share of injuries this year, a few well-known players are getting close to returning to full health.

Stefan Savic returned to training with the squad last week and may be in line for a start, while Jose Maria Gimenez has been working on his own to be ready for the Sevilla encounter.

Thomas Lemar is also expecting to play, but Atletico will be without Sergio Reguilon, who is currently recovering from surgery.

Sevilla La Liga form: D, L, L, W, D

Atletico Madrid La Liga form: L, W, D, W, L

Sevilla predicted lineup

Yassine Bounou; Marcos Acuna, Tanguy Nianzou, Nemanja Gudelj, Gonzalo Montiel; Fernando, Joan Jordan; Oliver Torres, Isco, Papu Gomez; Kasper Dolberg

Atletico Madrid predicted lineup:

Jan Oblak; Reinildo, Jose Maria Gimenez, Stefan Savic; Yannick Carrasco, Koke, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo De Paul, Marcos Llorente; Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata

Prediction

Sevilla 1-1 Atletico Madrid

It is tough to imagine either of these sides winning this one, given their current state of form. A draw would be the most likely result given Sevilla’s defensive issues and Atletico’s difficulties lately.
