Sevilla’s recent change of guard appears already to be yielding progress in some areas that had been lacking. The club now set sights on reinforcement to strengthen their team.
Head coach Jorge Sampaoli has made a request to Sevilla’s club president Monchi on his desire to sign Gabigol (Gabriel Barbosa) from Flamengo. The Brazilian attacker, who currently has an active contract that runs through December 2024, is not new to European football.
According to Fichajes, Sevilla wants Gabigol as one of the reinforcements the team needs. The appointment of Jorge Sampaoli restarted a new project at the club, which has the support of Monchi.
Gabriel Barbosa is expected to form an attacking reinforcement with En-Nesyri, Rafa Mir and Dolberg. The poor state of the club’s frontline could be seen in the domestic scene and the Champions League, where it has failed to score many goals.
The asking price for Gabigol
Sevilla would need to cough out 18 million euros for Gabigol next summer for the likelihood of transfer happening. Although the Brazilian could be open to the idea of leaving, his wish is to win the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo.
This season, he has scored 28 goals and 5 assists in his last 58 games played.
