Sebastien Haller on target as Ivory Coast beat Madagascar in AFCON 2021 Qualifiers


West Ham United attacker who was also eligible to represent France at international level was on target for Ivory Coast in his debut game as the Ivorians beat Madagascar.


Former Arsenal hotshot Gervinho who no plays for Serie A side Parma opened scoring for Ivory Coast on the 40th minute. Haller who came on as a substitute for Kodjia J. early in the 23rd minute of the game scored his first international goal for Ivory Coast in 55th minute.


Haller who previously played for German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt before joining West Ham United in the Premier League was also eligible to represent France at the international stage but opted to represent Ivory Coast.


With three matches played in group k, Ivory Coast sits at the top with six points tied on the same point with second-placed Madagascar.


Haller, Gervinho, Nicolas Pepe are expected to help Ivory Coast qualify for the maiden event next year despite a slow start in the group.


Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha was absent from the matchday squad for the Ivorians.
