After finishing poorly in the just concluded 2019/20 Bundesliga season, Schalke 04 wants to approach the new season with a whole new dimension.
The club’s plans a different approach for several positions including the attack, left back position and midfied according to Fussball Transfers.
David Wagner retained his position as coach of the side after fears emerged he could get sacked at the end of the season.
In the goal post, Schalke 04 already eyeing SC Freiburg goal keeper as a replacement after Alexander Nubel’s departure to FC Bayern Munich who has tipped the Schalke goalkeeper as Manuel Neuer long term replacement.
Bastian Oczipka (31) remains the top dog in the back left. And behind it? Loan player Juan Miranda (20) is back at FC Barcelona, Jonas Carls (23) loaned to Vitória Guimarães. Hamza Mendyl (22) should also go. Who is supposed to fill the gap behind Oczipka is currently still completely open.
Since Daniel Caligiuri (32) left FC Augsburg, Schalke has no qualified right-back in the squad, so two new players have to come here. The name Gonzalo Montiel (23, river plate) was always traded in Argentina, but the trail has not been really hot so far. Timo Becker (23), last defense all-rounder in the second team, is a candidate for a backup role.
The attack, Sebastian Andersson would be the top priority after Hertha Berlin declined an earlier request for an exchange deal which includes Mark Uth for Jhon Cordoba.
