Samuel Chukwueze injury update: successful surgery for nigerian star

June 1, 2021 0 By Ibiye Ambille

Nigerian and Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has undergone a successful surgery in the anterior rectus after the injury prevented him from featuring in the UEFA Europa League final.

The Nigerian winger was successfully operated on by doctor Doctor Ramón Cugat.

Recall that he was critically injured during the Europa League semi-final clash against Premier League side Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 6 May.

This injury prevented him from playing against Manchester United in an all-important UEFA Europa League final against one of the biggest sides in the world.

The final held in the Polish city of Gdansk, Villareal was held by Manchester United even as the game was forced into penalties where the Yellow Submarines have crowned Champions in the end.

Chukweze was one of the most important players for Coach Unai Emery who achieved another milestone in the Competition after leading Sevilla to back to back wins in Competition years back.

The task is upon the Spanish side who will take on UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup.

Samuel Chukwueze after the successful injury operation is expected to recover and join the first team ahead of preparations for the 2021/2022 football season in Spain and Europe.

The stats favour the young Nigerian forward who formed an integral part of the team despite facing uncertainties last year amid Takefusa Kubo loan move to the club.

For the head coach of the side Unai Emery, there’s no other way to describe Chukwueze’s performance in the whole season than excellent.

Villareal did not qualify for the UEFA Champions League last season table finish, but the UEFA Europa League win over Manchester United will see the club in the Champions League group stages next year.

At least for Chukwueze and his teammates, it is indeed another time to create the history and eight the wrongs once again.

The Nigerian star is expected to further cement his position in the starting eleven once the new season kick offs in Spain after the European Championship.
