Samad Kadiri’s in the 52nd minute at the Enyimba International Stadium was enough for the Aba elephants to secure all three points in the start of the NPFL new season following a disappointing loss to Al Merreikh in CAF Champions League.

The first half ended in a stalemate, even as coach Imama Amapakabo and his boys proved to be a major obstacle for the wounded elephants in Aba.

Coach Osho who expressed his dissatisfaction towards his side’s Champions League loss was optimistic about getting the result in the game against Abia Warriors.

Coach of the side Fatai Osho has now led Enyimba to three wins against Abia Warriors, and he now becomes the manager with most wins in Abia State Derby.

At the start of the game, Enyimba’s Samad puts the ball in the net from distance. But the ref’s whistle had gone earlier as he fouled Adekunle Adeleke.

Arit Archibong had a shot from distance, which went wide after a series of passes carved open Enyimba’s defence. It was indeed one of the best chance Abia Warriors had throughout the game.

Enyimba also had another glorious opportunity after Stephen Manyo’s cross into the box was flashed wide by Samad Kadiri, the scorer of the penalty, who had just the Abia Warriors keeper to beat.

The two teams have always played their “A” game each time they face each other in any competition.
