After an impressive win over Crystal Palace in the English Premier League, Saturday early kickoff, Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard highlighted the current situation at Stamford Bridge amid Callum Hudson-Odoi links with Bayern Munich.
The young Englishman had been linked with a move to Germany either on a loan basis with an option to buy at the end. A move which could prove too difficult for the club to handle.
After the game, Frank Lampard told the press all he knew about the situation with Odoi. According to the former Derby County manager, Hudson remains a key member of Chelsea first team.
Recall that the young Englishman played almost ninety minutes before he was taken off for Christian Pulisic in a game which the blues ran out four goals victors.
Here are the words from the former Chelsea midfielder…
“He’s part of our plans at Chelsea,” no definitive answer, we will know by Monday whether there is one. Callum is our player – what Callum wants is an option, but it has to be right for us.” said Frank Lampard to the press after the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace who failed to register more than three shots on target.
Odoi 19, could leave Chelsea before the transfer window draws to a close on Monday. Lampard’s statements suggest the future of the player lies in the hands of the top hierarchy at Chelsea.
Last season, he was close to sealing a move to Germany, but a deal could not be struck at the end despite heavy rumours.
Our View – A chance to play regularly at Bayern Munich other than Chelsea who’s currently under experiment
Moving to Bayern, there’s ample opportunity to command first team shirt with more chances to win titles. At the moment, the policy at the German Bundesliga record champions favours young players.
The club would offer him more opportunities to win trophies.
At Chelsea despite the current state of the team, he is not guaranteed starting shirt since Frank Lampard favours Christian Pulisic.
