Relevo: The reason behind Marco Asensio decision to leave Real Madrid
After seven years at the Santiago Bernabéu, it looks like the time has come when Marco Asensio decides to pull the plug. The 27-year-old is expected to play at a different club next season following the breakdown in discussion with the club.
The decision to leave Los Blancos is a firm decision and yet a difficult one to make after a successful career at the club.
Asensio is leaving at a time no one would ever imagine. But the lengthy talks regarding his contract had suggested the Spaniard would be heading to a new club.
So why is Marco Asensio leaving Real Madrid? Well, there’s been a lot going on in the team. One of the most important aspects of one’s life is happiness, and the Spaniard seeks more happiness, which would mean leaving his home for a new challenge.
Here are some of the reasons Marco Asensio has decided to leave the club
Regular role: For the whole season, Asensio has been caught up in the middle of substitution as Carlo Ancelotti emphasized squad rotation and choosing the best legs available on every match day.
His inability to play regularly despite putting out a good shift has affected his overall performance.
Preferred position: Marco Asensio plays in a complete but similar position to his time at Mallorca. But here (Real Madrid), he’s now in the 4-3-3 formation, which is entirely different from his original position.
He is left to play at the flanks, and even though he’s been successful, he would prefer to take up his original position where he feels comfortable. Asensio plays a central role (behind the striker).
According to Relevo, Marco Asensio is leaving Real Madrid to seek a new challenge elsewhere outside Spain, and the reasons are personal. The Spanish football magazine also reveals the footballer has eyes on the upcoming European Football Championship in 2024.
