The winners of the Balon d’Or award were announced. It was held in Paris, France even, as Karim Benzema won his first award, becoming the second player after Luka Modrić to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s dominance since 2005.

After the remarkable success, Benzema became the eighth Real Madrid player to win the Ballon d’Or throughout history. The Los Blancos have seen many greats from their fold lift the famous football award.
