Casemiro further went on to outjump the defence inside the six-yard box to meet the corner kick and to Madrid first goal with a great header into the bottom right corner.
Daniel Carvajal fired a rebound from mid-range onto the right post! Jan Oblak scored an own goal in the process.
The two sides had better chances in each half to score goals, but individual brilliance from the two goalkeepers of Madrid and Atletico proved worthy.
