Barcelona’s chase for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, whose future seems to be in Spanish La Liga, has taken a different twist as Real Betis considers the Argentine as a new target in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old spent last season at Villarreal and is expected to return to Spurs for next season. And even though the Yellow Submarines had shown interest in retaining him, he would unlikely return to the Premier League or remain at Estadi de la Ceràmica.

But in recent days, FC Barcelona and Real Betis have now emerged as top destinations when the summer transfer window starts on July 1st. The Blaugrana are looking to ramp up their midfield search after the signing of Ilkay Gündoğan from Manchester City with an additional signing.

Although Guido Rodriguez was mentioned as a top target, it remains to be seen what the clubs’ priorities are.

For Real Betis, getting the Tottenham Hotspur star would come at a cost, meaning they would have to get rid of some players to give room for his arrival.

However, there are more twists in his future at this time. Fichajes reveals Barcelona could try a swap deal with Tottenham Hotspur. The Blaugrana would try to swap Clément Lenglet, currently on loan at the club, for Lo Celso.

Presently, there are no concrete talks about Giovanni Lo Celso’s future in Spanish La Liga, as his loan spell at Villarreal was valid throughout the 2022/23 football season.
