Julian Nagelsmann and his boys got off to a good start today with a win in the Bundesliga opening game against Mainz 05 at the Red Bull Arena.
Goals from Emil Fosberg, Yussuf Poulsen and Amadou Haidara was enough to secure all three points for the Dierottenbullen in front of over eight thousand fans.
Leipzig’s chances in the game opened up a few minutes after kickoff with several attacks led by Emil Fosberg and Dani Olmo.
Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig) defeated his marker, taking a super strike from the edge of the box which could not penetrate as Mainz 05 goalkeeper was able to prevent the ball from going into the back of the net.
The first goal came off a spot-kick which was cooly converted by Emil Fosberg. The second goal came after Dani Olmo watched Yussuf Poulsen proper positioning in the box. The Spaniard only needed to pass the ball unto Yussuf Poulsen (RB Leipzig), who made no mistakes to increase Leipzig’s lead to two goals.
This time, Forsberg only needed to set up a pass for Amadou Haidara to seal the win for Leipzig.
South Korean attacker Hwang Hee-Chan made his Bundesliga debut as he came on for Spanish international Dani Olmo in the 69th minute of the game.
