Paris Saint-Germain is one of the most successful and popular clubs in France and Europe. Founded in 1970, PSG has won 45 trophies, including nine Ligue 1 titles, 14 French Cups, and one European Cup Winners’ Cup.

The club has also attracted some of the best players in the world, who have left their mark on PSG’s history and culture. In this article, I want to pay tribute to some of these legends who have made me proud to be a PSG fan.
1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The Swedish striker joined PSG in 2012 from AC Milan and became an instant legend. He scored 156 goals in 180 games for PSG, breaking several records. He won four consecutive Ligue 1 titles, three French Cups, and three French League Cups with PSG. He also became the club’s all-time top scorer and was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year thrice. He was known for his charisma, confidence, and spectacular goals.
2. Ronaldinho
The Brazilian magician arrived at PSG in 2001 from Gremio and dazzled everyone with his skills, tricks, and smile. He played 86 games for PSG, scoring 25 goals and providing 32 assists. He won one French Cup and one UEFA Intertoto Cup with PSG. He also helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup in Paris. Fans loved him for his joy of playing football.
3. Thiago Silva
The Brazilian defender joined PSG in 2012 from AC Milan and became one of the best centre-backs in the world. He played 315 games for PSG, scoring 17 goals. He won seven Ligue 1 titles, five French Cups, six French League Cups, and seven French Super Cups with PSG. He also captained Brazil to win two Copa America titles in Paris. He was respected by teammates and opponents for his leadership, professionalism, and elegance.
4. David Ginola
The French winger joined PSG in 1992 from Brest and became a fan favourite. He played 158 games for PSG, scoring 44 goals and providing 49 assists 3. He won one Ligue 1 title, two French Cups, and one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup with PSG. He also helped France qualify for the 1996 European Championship in Paris. Fans admired him for his flair, creativity, and charisma.
5. Jean-Marc Pilorget
The French defender joined PSG in 1975, a few years after its establishment. He featured in a team-record 435 games, making him the all-time leader in appearances. He was at the club for 14 years and had 17 goals and 20 assists. He won two French Cups with PSG. He was loyal, reliable, and versatile, playing as a right-back, centre-back, or defensive midfielder.
These are just some legends that have graced PSG’s shirt over the years. Many more deserve recognition, such as Edinson Cavani, Pauleta, George Weah, Safet Susic, Dominique Rocheteau, and Jay-Jay Okocha.
