Preston North End and Salford City FC will square up at Deepdale in the First round of the Carabao Cup.

Preston came from a goal down to earn a draw at Bristol City in their opening-day EFL Championship fixture at Ashton Gate Stadium.

Last season in the Carabao Cup, PNE was eliminated in the second round by Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in a keenly contested match.

Salford City on the other hand had a good start to the season with a (2-0) win over Forest Green.

Salford City were knocked out in the Carabao Cup in the first round by Bolton Wanderers FC. Starting the new season on a strong note, the two sides will be locked in a tussle for a place in the next round.
