Thus, Arsenal was given the ‘Invincible’ in the Premier League and have since maintained the bragging rights until today. Liverpool FC in 2019/20 came close to equalling this record before their loss to Watford FC.

  • Aston Villa FC

Aston Villa has been a regular side in the English top flight. Although not as big as the big money spenders, the Villans also boast of many EPL titles in their cabinet.

Lately, Aston Villa has had a contingent to compete with the big boys with a crop of average and compelled established players. Villa has also faced the struggle of promotion and relegation.

  • Brentford

Brentford won the EFL Championship 2020/21 Play-offs final against Derby County to secure promotion to the EPL, breaking a 74-year wait for the top flight.

The win in the playoffs paved the way for Brentford to taste the English Premier League action once again after an 74-year absence. The London based club have so far played well and could see another season in the top flight.

  • Brighton & Hove Albion

Known for developing young players from scratch and sourcing for players from lesser leagues, Brighton & Hove Albion have maintained their top-flight status over the years.

  • Burnley FC

Burnley FC has since established itself as a traditional club since the top flight in the 2016/17 season. Burnley FC is also among the average sides in the Premier League with few well-known players.

Burnley is known for its ability to cause a major upset against the big sides in the top flight over the years.

  • Chelsea FC

Chelsea is one of the most successful teams in the Premier League. The London based club ended a 50-year wait for the league title in the 2004/05 season when Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho took charge of the team.

Chelsea’s success is due to the heavy financial backing by Russian billionaire and owner Roman Abramovich, who spent heavily on players and club infrastructure. The Russian helped Chelsea to lift over 13 titles in thirteen years.

At the moment, Chelsea has consistently held the status as title favourites each season. The club also has a squad depth comparable with the big boys in the league.

That being said, Chelsea is not just a Premier League Champion; they’re also a European Superpower with over four European trophies. The club’s most recent success was the triumph against Manchester City in the 2020/21 final in Porto, Portugal.

  • Crystal Palace

The Eagles are considered average side in the Premier League. Known for competing at the highest level with few top-class players, Palace has become a household name in the English top flight.

Crystal Palace, a London based club, has helped the City’s claim in the English top flight.

Leicester City kept up with their previous success in the league over the following season and reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals before losing to Atlético Madrid.

Since then, Leicester City FC has been consistent in the league and are active in the market.

  • Liverpool FC

One of England’s biggest football clubs, Liverpool FC, has won numerous trophies in the domestic and international scene.

In the English First Division era, Liverpool FC was one of the most successful teams. However, the same success could not see the light of day in the early years after the league was rebranded to the Premier League.

But, the success in the 2019–20 season meant Liverpool FC marked the end of the 30-year drought. Liverpool FC currently has one of the strongest squads in Europe.

  • Manchester City

Man City FC is a household name in English football nowadays characterised by the City Football Group takeover in 2008. Although Man City was also a force in the early years of English football, they became a new superpower in England after the new ownership of the club.

Many changes, including players and club infrastructure, had helped Man City to its current level. The club had spent heavily on established players while also working hard to improve its youth development teams.

Today, Man City have won many trophies. Also, the club boasts of having one of the strongest squads in Europe.

But despite these achievements and squad depth, Man City have not been able to win the Champions League trophy, though it came close for them in 2021. However, the Citizens are still on course for the top European silverware.

In 2021, Newcastle United saw a significant uplift when its owners sold it to a Saudi Arabian consortium consisting of PCP Capital Partners, Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) . Hopefully, the club would see substantial gains just as Man City after the City Football Group takeover.

Wrapping update
