Players that went from Arsenal to Man City – Top 5
Arsenal and Manchester City are two of the biggest names in football, and they are frequently regarded as two of the greatest rivals on the pitch.
In the history of the premier league, many players have switched teams at various points in their careers. Let’s look at the players that moved from Arsenal to Manchester City.
1. Emmanuel Adebayor
The Togolese striker joined Manchester City from Arsenal in 2009 for £25m after scoring 62 goals in 142 games for the Gunners. He had a controversial debut season at City, scoring 14 goals in 31 games, but also clashing with his former teammates and fans.
He famously ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal supporters after scoring against them in a 4-2 win. He also stamped on Robin van Persie’s face, earning him a three-match ban. He fell out of favour under Roberto Mancini and was loaned out to Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur before joining Spurs permanently in 2012.

2. Kolo Toure
The Ivorian defender was one of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles,’ who went unbeaten in the 2003/04 Premier League season. He formed a formidable partnership with Sol Campbell at the back and was also a versatile player who could play as a defensive midfielder or a right-back.
He joined Manchester City in 2009 for £14m and was named the club captain. He helped City win their first FA Cup in 2011 and the Premier League title in 2012. However, he also missed six months of action due to a failed drug test in 2011. He left City in 2013 to join Liverpool on a free transfer.
3. Patrick Vieira
Vieira played 279 times for Arsenal, serving as the team’s captain and the inspiration behind one of the greatest Premier League teams in history, Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles. He relocated to Italy to play for Juventus and Inter before returning to England in 2010 with City.
The Blues won the FA Cup in his lone season with the club. Following his retirement at the end of that campaign, he began coaching for the Club, first overseeing the city’s Elite Development Squad from 2013 to 2015 before moving on to lead the city’s sister team New York City.
4. Samir Nasri
The French midfielder was one of Arsenal’s most creative players, scoring 27 goals and providing 40 assists in 125 games. He was nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award in 2011 after a stellar season.
He joined Manchester City in 2011 for £25m and won two Premier League titles, one League Cup, and one FA Cup with the club. He also scored some crucial goals for City, including the equalizer against QPR on the dramatic final day of the 2011/12 season. However, he also had some injury problems and disciplinary issues at City.
5. David Seaman
Seaman joined Arsenal in 1990, eight years after making his senior debut, and he managed to hold the top dog position at Highbury for a great 13 years. He participated in 405 games as Arsenal won the FA Cup five times and the English championship three times.
Just a few months before his 40th birthday in 2003, Kevin Keegan offered him a one-year contract to play for City in their inaugural season at what is now known as the Etihad Stadium. Before being forced to retire in January due to injury, he played 19 times.
