Players that played for Manchester City and Chelsea

Football is where the line between rivalry and camaraderie can often be blurred. This is especially true for clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea, who have enjoyed the healthy competition. It’s common to find players who have played for both clubs.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at some of the most notable players who have donned the colours of both Manchester City and Chelsea.

Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne is one of the most talented and versatile players in the world of football. He started his professional career at Genk before moving to Chelsea in 2012. Despite being part of the team that won the 2014-15 Premier League title, De Bruyne struggled for game time under then-manager Jose Mourinho. As a result, he moved to Manchester City in 2015, where he has since established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Nicolas Anelka

Nicolas Anelka is a retired French striker who played for Manchester City and Chelsea. He joined City in 2002 and played for two seasons before moving on to Fenerbahce. In 2008, he joined Chelsea and helped the Blues win the Premier League in his first season. He is widely regarded as one of the most talented and enigmatic players of his generation.

Frank Lampard is a former English midfielder considered one of the greatest players who ever played for Chelsea. He played for the club for 13 years and won almost every major trophy, including three Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy. After leaving Chelsea, Lampard joined Manchester City on a short-term deal before retiring from professional football.

George Weah

George Weah was among the best African players and won the Ballon d’Or in 1995. He joined Chelsea on loan from AC Milan in January 2000 and scored five goals in 15 games for the Blues, winning the FA cup. Weah then moved to Manchester City on a free transfer in August 2000, but his spell there was less successful. He only scored four goals in 11 games for City and left them after falling out with manager Joe Royle.

Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge is a former English striker who played for Manchester City and Chelsea. He began his career at Manchester City and played for three seasons before moving to Chelsea in 2009. He won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League while at Chelsea before moving to Liverpool.

Willy Caballero

Willy Caballero is an Argentine goalkeeper who played for Manchester City from 2014 to 2017, winning two Premier League titles and an EFL Cup. In 2017, he signed for Chelsea, where he played for three seasons before joining the Spanish club Elche.

These are just some players who have played for Manchester City and Chelsea. Some had more success than others, but they all shared a common experience of playing for two of England’s top clubs. Who do you think was the best player among them? Let us know.
