Pep Guardiola raises concerns as Man City prepares for Real Madrid second leg test
It was an entertaining draw at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Two goals only separated the two giants.
Vinicius Junior opened the scoring following a pass from Eduardo Camavinga. However, the visitors found the back of the net through Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne who went emotional following the goal.
However, ahead of the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, concerns have been raised by Pep Guardiola, who is looking forward to winning the UCL with Manchester City after years of unsuccessful attempts.
The Citizens will take on struggling Everton FC at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, and the Spanish tactician is concerned about the date of the fixture ahead of the return leg against Real Madrid Saturday.
Guardiola has, however, raised concerns about the difference in fixture dates between his team and the visitors.
“I don’t understand it, but I have to adapt. I can’t fight the schedule. It is what it is. I’m sure the Premier League wants to help their teams” via Bernabéu Digital.
They don’t want us to be uncomfortable, but it’s the calendar. You have to adapt. I would have preferred to play on Saturday, of course, but what am I going to do? We have one more day to recover for Everton, but one day less against Real Madrid,” he said.
On the other hand, the Manchester City manager insists that his five senses are focused on Sunday’s game: “My thoughts are on Everton, nothing else. We have been working for this for eleven months and it is our priority at the moment, the Premier League. We don’t have much time to think about Real Madrid because, in addition, we play on Sunday. Thank you for that,” he said.
