Paul Onuachu linked with Olympique Lyon move

The high scoring Nigerian Professional Footbalaller in the race for the golden shoe in Belgium could be heading to the French Ligue 1 as Olympique Lyon considers making offer for him.

 

 

Starting the new season on high, Onuachu is set for a record-breaking outing in Belgium which has also attracted interest from Lyon in the French Ligue 1 even as major shake up is expected to happen at the club with the rumoured exit of some of the big stars in the team.

 

 

This season, Onuachu has scored 19 goals in 19 league appearances for Genk in the Belgian First Division A with four assists in the process.

 

So far, he is the most preferred option uup frontin the team ahead of compatriot Cyriel Dessers, who used to be a major force ahead of Onuachu.

 

 

The 26-year old attacker according to Walfoot via Foot Mercato is a top priority in the french club, however, there’s no hurry to sign him in January since they’re already eyeing Algerian star Islam Slimani from Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Lyon could be finalizing the deal to bring Slimani for the club before the end of January.

 

 

Lyon’s interest in Onuachu is currently not at the highest level as the club would prefer to approach him at the end of January or in June.

Started his career with FC Midtjylland, Paul managed to score 52 goals in 135 appearances from 2012 to 2019.

 

 

Moving to Genk in 2019, he grew to become the major hitman in the team and has scored 28 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

 

 

Amid the recent interest from France, Onuachu is expected to continue with his development at Genk before considering to leave the club.

His ability to score goals at this point makes him standout amongst other attackers in Europe. At least apart from Robert Lewandowski, he remains the most consistent goalscorer in the whole of Europe.
