Pape Gueye is close to joining Sevilla from Marseille on a loan
Olympique Marseille midfielder Pape Gueye is one step away from becoming Sevilla’s latest reinforcement in the January transfer window. Newspaper AS according to Fichajes reveals the deal is in the final stages.
Pape Gueye when the deal is completed will become Sevilla’s first signing of the January transfer window. The Senegalese is expected to strengthen the team temporarily.
The head coach of the club Jorge Sampaoli is working towards strengthening the team for the rest of the season and the next campaign. In the eyes of the coach, the midfielder would be a great addition to the team.
What are the details of Pape Gueye’s move to Sevilla?
Pape Gueye will join Sevilla on loan. However, the two sides are negotiating to add a purchase option at the end of his loan spell at the club. The Senegalese midfielder has struggled to get regular playing time at the club.
His contract with Marseille will come to an end in 2024. Without an extension in sight, a buy option in the loan agreement could mean an escape route for the 24-year-old midfielder.
