Ousmane Dembélé high wage demands stalling contract talks with Barcelona
Barcelona and Ousmane Dembélé are still in contract talks which are taking too long as a result of the player’s high wage demands. The French international is yet to agree on a new deal with the Catalan club.
According to Fussball Transfers, yesterday’s negotiations between his agent and Barcelona did not go down too well as both parties left the table with an agreement in place.
The German outlet also quoted ‘Mundo Deportivo’ citing further talks between the player’s agent and the club could follow, but they’re miles apart at the moment.
According to the German portal, Dembélé agents are demanding a salary of 40 million euros plus a bonus of the same amount. This high demand means Barcelona may not be able to afford it at the moment.
However, this could lead Barcelona to sell the Frenchman in the January transfer window. Already, top European clubs including Paris St. Germain, Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC, Manchester United and Newcastle United are said to be interested.
Dembélé Barcelona career has been affected by a series of injuries, some of which had kept him on the sidelines for close to a year.
