Oliver Ruhnert wants to keep Taiwo Awoniyi at Union Berlin
After an impressive start to life at Union Berlin, the manager of the side Oliver Ruhnert wants to keep Taiwo Awoniyi, the Nigerian youngster at the club.
After joining the German capital city club on loan from English Premier League side Liverpool, the young Nigerian attacker quickly established himself as a major force at the club, scoring a couple of goals in the club.
However, he has failed to feature for Union Berlin which was a result of a muscle injury sustained.
Even though he currently sidelined, Union Berlin manager Oliver Ruhnert has pledged to keep Taiwo Awoniyi at the club.
Although it was not made known whether it would be to keep permanently at the club or it would be to extend his loan spell at the club for at least another.
According to Ligainsider, the capital city club will ensure he remains with them at least for another season or more depending on how his parent club Liverpool choose to handle his future.
Taiwo Awoniyi stats and why Union Berlin manager considers him a long term stay
The 23-year old would have gone further with his goalscoring form if not for the muscle injury.
In 20 appearances this season, he has managed five goals and three assists in the process.
The young promising striker is not new to the German Bundesliga since he was initially in the league but with Mainz 05.
For his Liverpool future, there’s a huge doubt he would have the chance to claim the first team shirt in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
These and more could change his mind towards sticking to Union Berlin other than fighting for a place in England.
