Maduka Okoye is a versatile goalkeeper who plays for Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam as a goalkeeper.

 

The Nigerian-born dutch football switched allegiance to the Super Eagles after Coach Gernot Rohr placed a call to him as measures to solve the county’s goalkeeping issues.

 

Born 28 August 1999, he started his career in Dusseldorf before his move in 2020 to Rotherham.

 

Okoye is currently in contention for the top goalkeeper spot in the National team although the coach of the side had dismissed claims of handing out the number one goalie to Maduka Okoye.

 

He is currently in the race for who gets the starting shirt in goal for Super Eagles.

Super Eagles engagement for the rest of 2021

The Eagles have qualifed for the 2022 African Cup of Nations to be held in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles may also play some friendly matches to fine-tune preparations for the all-important African World Cup Qualifying series.

About The Nigerian Super Eagles

 

The Nigerian Super Eagles are the country’s senior national team, representing the country in any FIFA, CAF or anything football at senior level and are being controlled by the Nigerian Football Federation, the NFF.

 

 

The super eagles have had several records backing them since they entered the international scene, representing the most populous black nation on earth.

 

 

Nigeria Super Eagles started as a colony back in the days during the British rule as British Union Jack.

 

The start of the national team saw them play some quality friendly matches in England since the English were their colonial masters at that time.

 

 

The Super Eagles made a landmark achievement back in 1976 as they won the All African Games football gold medal.

 

 

Also, the team went on to win the African Cup of Nations in 1978, stamping Nigeria authority in African football. This was however achieved after the country gained independence from its colonial masters Britain.

 

 

One other remarkable achievement which has consistently kept the country’s name at the highest level was the winning of a gold medal during the 1996 Olympic Games in the city of Atlanta, United States.
